Hello everyone, a quick update here :)

Well, you can't trade the pound without getting into BREXIT of course ;) This has generated a lot of volatility this week, which resulted in a LOT of conversions. Clearly when this goes on your opposite direction you will need to adjust the box a bit. I am waiting for GF to hit 15 open orders, but not quite yet there...in the meantime, I'm a just bringing in cash ins with my linked grid (right side). Even though my primary grid looks a big fat (and it is ;)) it's still not even 1/3 of my realized profit....so you could say I'm still trading with free money....and far from my initial deposit....so far, so good :)

Happy trading :)

Hey @Smigle ! I am loving your diary! And I have to say that I'm going to go for it with another trading diary of my own ;) I've been wanting to do another head to head diary...but still have some questions on how to go about it. I wanted to do another Grid King diary vrs...???...and after having read your diary, I think it's pretty clear ;)

I might reach out for some tips on GF ;) @Smigle

Btw, if you would like to contribute your thoughts:

I really like this @Pisces !! Your head to head format I very much enjoy :D I learned a lot from your other diaries (y)
I will be following it from day 1 (y)

Happy trading :)
Hey @Smigle ! I like how you got out of that first big one (y)
Your spacing is pretty tight at 10 pips, but I guess this is where that risk pays off (y)
If you continue at this pace, you should reach your target by next week...aprox....
Good luck man!

I really like that you went for GBPUSD (y)
It's great to see that dynamic in action "real time".
Thanks everyone, I wish the same success to you guys as I see a lot of you are already trading GF :)(y)
Yes indeed :) I've been trading GF for a bit now. I have a long EURUSD grid at the moment that is turning out to be an interesting challenge for a newbie :D, but thanks to all the posts in the forum and your diary I've been able to "conceptualize" how the GF philosophy works :)...and why these situations shouldn't be scary...(if you do your part of course ;))...so I'm sure you will do well with this 14 order one (y)

You achieved a really good pace with those settings. I also thought they were a bit too tight...but you've done OK with them....AND on GBPUSD....well done @Smigle (y)

I'm very happy to announce that I had the perfect ending to this trading diary with the closing of a very nice grid, and a ton of just great volatility (= conversions) on my linked grid. I made a 380+ last week and can look back at a very successful and profitable period :) πŸ₯³ πŸ₯³ πŸ₯³ πŸ₯³ πŸ₯³ πŸ₯³ !!!!!

I learned a lot from using this wonderful trading mate :) I didn't get to a hedge situation like some of you already have, but I would have had no problem going for it if the situation would have presented itself.

About the Gap spacing...Linked Grids....Backtests...
  • This is an area I learned a lot about...I went for a spacing of 10, which is very very fast...specially when I ran it on M15 + M5...the amount of trades can tally up quite a bit. I had the room to do it, but you would need to determine that on your own set ups. What I can say, is that such a short gap, also gave my grids a chance to close more frequently than when I temporarily switched to 15 pips. So I am having mixed feelings as to which is safer....but no doubts as to which is more profitable.
  • Backtests can give you an idea...but in reality you would never stick to one gap space...or time frame....once you go past 9-10 orders you should...or at least I would....make some changes...increase the gap...go for a higher timeframe....limit GF to a range...etc.
  • What did prove very effective was to run the 1st grid on the slowest time frame...say M30....and running the linked grid on a faster one M15/M5....the linked grid will always be "closer to the closing" than the stand alone grid...so I feel I can take a bit more risk.
  • Another bit that proved very profitable was to increase the lots for the linked grid...I used a start lost of 0.01, but an increment of 0.02
I want to again thank all of your for your posts, messages, suggestions, complaints, etc:D:D:D(y)(y). I've loved doing this trading journal, like I've loved doing all of the previous ones and sharing them with you (y) I hope some of my experiences will be valuable to some of you to either give this a try, or not. I found this type of trading perfect for my style, but I can imagine this is not for everyone as it does require a certain level of involvement.

I wish you all a ton of success in your trading!
