FX Trading Diary Smigle's Grid Fusion EA MT4 GBPUSD Forex Trading Diary

I Dream

Currently attending Forex kindergarden
Grid Fusion P & L = 570
P & L since last reading = 198
--------------------------------

This was a much more interesting week, as Grid Fusion had to deal with a couple of storms!! I had some big baskets forming (this is where the drawdown comes in of course...) but with the settings I have, I didn't need a major retracement for them to close:

Even when I didn't get the direction right, Grid Fusion handled....well.....even better than when I got it right πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ !!

Sooo what did I learn this week about Grid Fusion....?
I guess traders will need to figure out their "philosophy" on how they want to run this EA. And this is mine....based on a few weeks of using it...
  • 1) You only need to focus on how Grid Fusion should behave when it goes against the direction you chose.
  • 2) When it goes in your direction you make profit by the small scalps....which believe you me, they add up! So don't be fooled by the little wins...true they are small...but they are also a lot of small ones ;)
  • 3) I will be focusing from here on in on the closing criteria of the basket as "this is where it's at" in my opinion.
Btw, this is how the whole chart looks since I started with this EA, roughly 2 weeks of trading:

Have good close of the week :)!
Wow @Smigle , so if I understand correctly, you've been making more than 250 a week:p:D!!
Is it me, or isn't this like pretty damn good:unsure:?

@Smigle these are really great results!
But...are you not running this too aggressively?
10 pip gap on M15 seems a bit too sharp...don't you think?

Wow, you are doing really good!
For any EA, this is a very decent performance (y)!!

True @AlphaOmega but if we have been cheering him on all the way to thus point....it would seem a bit weird that NOW we get on this tone....right πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‡?
Agree @Corny , let's at least be consistent ;)
@Smigle has also said if he would do this again...and I'm sure he will, he would start with different settings....with a bigger gap.
Let's see what happens with his next post.
I'm really thinking about getting on this EA....I really like the flexibility it offers (y)....and it's not so expensive ;) so it's not a huge gamble :)

Grid Fusion P & L = 773
P & L since last reading = 203
--------------------------------

Hello everyone :)! Another good week, clocking in 203 (y) Lots of scalps and lots of small-medium size baskets, so a well balanced week :). Now this is something that I wanted to show you (and myself :D), and it's until this week that we're getting a big basket...which I am labeling any basket above 10 levels:

536

Currently I have drawdown which is less than the profit I've made so far, so I'm still trading with "free money". My dd is of ~12%:

Breakdown:
5,000 initial
773 realized profit
---------------------
5,773 Equity

500 P&L
221 Margin requirement
---------------------------
721

721/5773 = 12%

Now this whole bit is key, given that this is where we learn that having bigger gaps makes it safer, but indeed less profitable. It's up to you how you want to go with, in my view, my approach is at the borderline, or leaning towards less conservative. A next grid I would start with a bigger gap, but then combining them with GridSync on multiple grids....which I am really getting itchy finger to do. This EA is too cool to only run it on one grid...plus, you can spread our investment, make similar amounts of profit, and lower your risk a lot. We've had a drop of about 190 pips, and at the moment I would need around 50 to close this grid out. Let's see how this goes :D

Happy trading everyone :)!

It's a bit under that, but yes, this return is really good :) Of course, it all depends on the markets, the volatility of the pair you choose, your gap size, etc....but yes, me happy with this set up :D

Come on people give the guy a break, it's his first Grid Fusion diary....and first of the forum....we're all learning right now ;)
You go @Smigle (y)(y)
I have asid before that I would have a different gap size on a new set up, so I do agree with @AlphaOmega . Even though I have made a nice profit, I wouldn't mind tweaking it up a bit, say around 13 - 15...but let's see ;)

Really nice consistent profit, I'm liking this a lot :)

Looks like you don't have to go past resistance to close this basket...so all good I would say (y)

@Smigle What lot sequence (increase) are you using for this grid by the way?
